Note: Samuel Whittemore lived briefly in Dover, New Hampshire, before settling on a farm in what is now Somerville, Massachusetts. He practiced as a wheelwright as well as being a farmer.
He appears to have been litigious by nature, judging from the number of lawsuits he was involved in, usually as the plaintiff, but he was also apparently generous, giving away houses and lands to his children before his death. He left an estate of one hundred and sixty-one pounds, six shillings, and four pence.

Note: Gershom Cutter most probably lived at the house called "Under the Rocks" that was later occupied by his son Gershom, in that part of Cambridge then called Menotomy and now known as Arlington. In all likelihood he was a farmer.
In 1747 he and his friend and neighbor were fined thirty shillings each by the justice of the peace at Watertown, Massachusetts, for walking from Cambridge to Newton to attend church. The legality of the proceedings was questioned by the court of Sessions and the decision was set aside.

Note: John Fillebrown was a resident of Charlestown, although he attended the church in Cambridge, where he was admitted to the church with his wife on May 11 1711. He was an original member of the second Cambridge Church when it was founded in 1739.
His name apears in the records with regard to a number of minor land transfers and he is listed as a precinct collector in 1738.
He is buried in Harvard Square.

Note: William Torrey was a prosperous farmer in Weymouth all his life, and left an estate valued at 1336 pounds, 8 shillings and 8 pence, a not inconsiderable sum for his time and place. His wife received a legacy of "sixteen pounds in current New England money" from her father.

Note: Not a great deal is known about Captain William Symmes, not even the origin of the military title. We know that he received a quit-claim to 3000 acres, jointly with Edward Wilson, located in the land of Node.
He died intestate and the inventory of his estate, signed by some of his children and siblings, laments his "having died in an untimely, aggravated and sudden manner, . . ." Unfortunately, it gives no clue as to the exact nature of his death. His estate was valued at 624 pounds.
He and his wife were the 2nd great grandparents of Mrs. William Henry Harrison, and thus the 4th great grandparents of President Benjamin Harrison.
