Pauncefote, John (b. , d. 1516)
Note: John Pauncefote served on the Commission for Peace in Gloucestershire between 1504 and 1517, and on the same commission for Worcestershire in 1513. He was Sheriff of Gloucestershire in 1506-07.

He was murdered in 1517 while carrying out his duties as a Justice. The details are not now known but it appears that several men of quality were involved. William Horton was outlawed for his part and his possessions seized and granted away. Richard Stoke was pardoned ten years later, and Sir John Savage, to recover a manor seized because of the event, paid a thousand marks to Pauncefote's widow, Bridget, the money "to be expended in pious works of charity for the soul of the said John Pauncefoot."
