Note: Edmund Weld was a very prosperous cloth merchant in Sudbury, the center of the cloth trade in County Suffolk. he lived in what he called his "mansion house" in town, with his shop and warehouse on the ground floor, and owned several tenements and pieces of land as well.

He held numerous town offices, including that of bailiff in 1597.
