Note: The Reverend Christopher Denton went to school in Newcastle-on-Tyne and was admitted to Magdalene College, Cambridge, on Mar 20 1683/4, as a sizar (a student who acted as a servant for wealthier students in exchange for a reduction in fees for himself). He received his B.A. in 1687/8 and was ordained a deacon on Jun 10, 1688, at Carlisle, and was ordained a priest on the following Aug 5.

He was appointed as rector of the parish of Gosforth, in County Cumberland, and remained in that post the rest of his life.
